This is excellent stuff. It's listed on Lowes as electrical tape but it's actually rubber splicing tape.

I use it on all my connections and have never had water infiltration. Just stretch it while wrapping it around and you will have no problems.

Great tape. Plumbing supply sells the same tape under various names to seal leaking pipes. Its meant to be a permanent fix. After a while you will need a box cutter to get it off as it binds to itself into a solid mass. I also like to use heat shrink tubing. One of those long neck BBQ lighters does a great job of shrinking it. You will also need a sharp knife to get it off.

I also have used this type tape for decades. I cover it up with Scotch 3M brand electrical tape to provide extra UV protection.
