Can I use my ext HD to watch the recording on my PC/MAC ???

AFAIK, the answer is no. Others may chime in, but Dish uses a variation on Libux that can't be read.

Actually the files can be seen, but they are heavily encrypted and it is a felony to decrypt them , so no one has.

No, you cannot watch EHD files on anything but a Dish receiver!

No. The EHD files will only play on a receiver on your own account, and only as long as you are a continuing customer. If you leave Dish coming back will not reinstate the EHD files.

As an example, my acct number changed when I bundled with Dishnet, then I could no longer access my EHD recordings since they didn't match the acct number of the receiver.
