I have several HD Tv's including a 70inch Sony, and the Picture quality varies from excellent to watchable, depending on the channel, live or recorded feature, and various other factors..
All in all, if installed properly, the Picture quality is definately watchable..
If you are really an over-analytical type of person, you may want to keep Direct Tv for a few weeks to compare the 2..but, I came from dish/comcrap, and found Uverse to be just fine for me..
I am very close to the VRAD, about 500 feel, so my signal is really strong, which probably helps as well..try to find out how far you are from the VRAD. Remember, no contract, so you can cancel anytime!
