VOOM's Rave HD to Premiere New Season of Soundstage With Special Two-Hour Performance by Peter Frampton
New Season of the Acclaimed Series Launches September 22nd With Frampton Special, and Resumes in November With Star-Studded Line-Up
On Friday, September 22nd at 9pm, VOOM HD Networks' RAVE HD -- the first 24-hour high definition music channel, available nationwide on the DISH satellite network -- will kick off the new season of the acclaimed concert series "Soundstage" with a special two-hour performance by Peter Frampton. One of the most acclaimed concert series on television, "Soundstage" now premieres on RAVE HD, in breathtaking high-definition.
Like all RAVE HD programming, "Soundstage" is produced and aired in "better-than-being-there" true 1080i high-definition and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Following this premiere, the series will resume on November 17th, with a performance by Lee Ann Womack, with subsequent episodes featuring performances by Robert Plant, Sheryl Crow (in a new never-before-seen two-hour version of her 2005 Lincoln Center concert), New York Dolls, Garbage, Rob Thomas and Jewel. The December 22 episode is called "B Sides," and features great never-before-aired performances from past "Soundstage" concerts.
Peter Frampton's performance was filmed in front of a live studio audience at the Soundstage Studios in Chicago on May 22nd, 2006. The appearance is part of the rock icon's tour supporting his new album, Fingerprints, now on A&M/New Door Records/UM . The Washington Post called the acclaimed CD "...a winning blend of sincerity and lightheartedness."
As a boy growing up in England, Peter Frampton adored the music of instrumental bands like the Shadows and the Ventures, as well as a potpourri of the popular jazz, blues and classical guitarists that were vital to youth at the time. Before long, he set out on an influential career in music of his own, eventually selling out arenas and garnering multi-platinum sales. With Fingerprints, Frampton returns to his roots, finally culminating his lifelong dream of recording an instrumental album in the spirit of his first musical heroes. Rave HD is a new way to experience music on television. The first-ever 24/7 high definition music channel, RAVE HD offers commercial-free programming that harnesses the surround-sound power of Dolby Digital 5.1, and the breathtaking depth and clarity of state-of-the-art HD video technology, to showcase music with a physical and emotional impact that television has never delivered before. RAVE HD is one of the VOOM HD Networks, a suite of 15 high-definition channels created for satellite and cable distribution. Rave HD is currently available on the DISH Network (DISH Channel 9470).
