Hi Group,

A quick note to let you know, the pricing structure is changing in a
fairly sweeping way. 12:00 AM 08-01-04 for all time zones.

These changes will not affect current customers, so long as you
'DO NOT CHANGE YOUR SERVICES' ahem. I didn't mean to yell, but this
is a very important point.

The pricing and packages you have now are good through 12-31-04.
**Should services be changed**, we will have *absolutely no way* to
get you back on what you had.

Charter Customers please understand this means if you change your
plus pak, you will be subject to the new pricing. In the past we've
been able to fix most errors with the free plus pak...this will no
longer be the case.

So long as you leave things, just as they are...you will be fine.
You will be able to add plus paks at the new price, without affecting
the basic VOOM price...and that's about the extent of the changes
which will not affect your current pricing.

I didn't bring the new pricing home with me, so I won't share that
now. Would rather be quiet than quote something wrong.

[VOOM] Re: New Promotions start 8/01/04

VOOM better be very careful with their pricing on minimum packages.
I am currently using VOOM as an add on service to my regular cable.
Up until now the rates have been pretty reasonable. If they raise
prices much more it will be bye, bye VOOM and hello to just cable
again. I love the additional HD channels, but I can live with just
my cable HD channels if they continue to raise rates out of sight.

I agree...they should leave the prices for the basic and Va VA Voom the same espeically for the customers that have been with them in this beginning phase of their new company. But, with that being said....I would pay more if they added more HD ch's. If they add some fox sports ch's in HD....some good SD ch's....INHD 1 and 2 , I would expect to pay more. You dont get something for nothing. Since I have been a Voom sub they have added ESPNHD and TNTHD at no cost to me...and they have added a number of STD ch's. I have watched 2 free $50 PPV events. When I had TWC I had 5 HD ch's for the same money im paying VOOM. Voom has been great. Dont get me wrong, I want prices to stay the same...but if they did go up on JAn 1st, 2005 and by that time they have added some ch's I wouldnt complain. I have VOOM as a add on with DTV and I watch VOOM alot more. At this point I really cant live without it.

i got dumped on

dragonlady,i had a sears deal with a stars pac for 39.95,and cs says that it was a mistake, that i have to pay for extra pac.i have the paperwork that says i can have 1 pac for 39.95.i have paid under protest. p.s. i did not change my programing.i did get va va voom free for 30 days.i need someones help, nobody has gotten back to me,not even wilt. thanks ed

DragonLady,

I ordered the STARZ/Encore Plus Pack a few days ago since I wanted to try it for a month. The CSR verified that my cost for the basic VOOM package would remain $39.99 should I decide to cancel the plus pack later in the year; I asked her to note this in my account and got the CSRs name and number for my records.

I am going to have a problem with this should I ever decide to cancel my plus pack? Until now (other than an ongoing OTA issue) I have had few problems with the service and none with billing.

Thanks,
Riff...<EOT>

I posted this on satguys but want to repost it on this thread so Voom reps can see it:

Before when people asked me if they should try voom I'd say "well they have some startup problems and they're missing some channels, but if you care mostly about hdtv and just want lots of hd channels, what the heck, give it a try." with this new deal, I'm not going to recommend voom anymore. I would say go with D*, get the $99 and 1 yr commit. At least at the end of one year, you OWN the box that will at least do OTA even if you ditch D*. You can even resell the box. And the new box they have is a whole lot nicer than the voom box.

Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment.. maybe I'm sadistic? .. but I'm sticking
it out. I refuse to give up on a service that I know is it's in infancy and
will flourish as time goes on. I know they will get the missing channels and
I know they are going to release their DVR. And I know they have PEOPLE in
the company that CARE about the product, the service and their customers. I
will be thankful I do not have to pay the increased price. I am thankful I
have no problems with my service and that my parents, whom I convinced to
sign up for Voom, also have no problems and are happy with their service.

I will not give up on Voom and I will recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I hope they are concentrating on lowering prices to attract subs and
not drive them away. Until they have all the necessary channels i.e.
RSN, Discovery Channels, all Nick Channels, adding 5star max and
Outermx, National Geo, History Interntation, Sci-Fi and Tech TV it
would be hard to justify a price change.

I love the service, too. I use it as an add on to my cable for more
HD programming. However, if the prices continue to rise I will be
forced to cancel it. I can swing the current prices, and will
probably stick it out for the $ 10 increase. However, if it goes
beyond that price wise, I will be forced to cancel. I cannot afford
to pay cable and VOOM that much money. I would love to keep VOOM,
but they need to keep the prices reasonable, or I will have to
choose between the two, and cable will win out in my case.

[VOOM] Re: New Promotions start 8/01/04

I have never been a complainer about price increases. I have the
regular Cablevision and they raise their prices a few bucks every
year, and I pay it without question. However, for a young fledgling
company like this to be raising their prices $ 10 already is quite
outrageous.

I think it is a stupid mistake and will cost them more business than
it is worth. I think they will lose more subscribers both current
and potential by this increase. They need to suck it up, and keep
the prices reasonable while they are in the growth stage. A bad
move like raising the prices so much, so soon makes me really wonder
about the longevity of VOOM. It is a bad, bad business decision on
their part. Like I said, one more increase and I am out. This
price structure better stay for the next few years.

Why do you have two services? Can you just have Voom and " suck it up "
until they get the other missing channels? I really miss sci-fi and not
having seen the new season of stargate sg1 and atlantis but it's not the end
of the world.

I can't see paying for two services.

[VOOM] Re: New Promotions start 8/01/04

No way, first of all I have about 7 TV's in my house. Secondly, I
live in the NYC area and cannot get all the locals OTA. I would be
missing three local channels if I only had VOOM. I also need cable
for the RSN's. We have three of them in the NYC area. My family
also would not live without several channels such as the Food
Network. They also would go crazy if we had heavy rain or
thunderstorms and VOOM did not work. Right now I have my cable
hooked up to all the TV's and VOOM hooked up to the two HDTV's. I
have no problem with that setup and really don't mind the extra
cost. However, it would change dramatically for me if VOOM becomes
too expensive. Then I could no longer afford the luxury of VOOM.

RE: [VOOM] Re: New Promotions start 8/01/04

Scott,

With all due respect sir, you have GOT to be kidding me!

You have S E V E N televisions's, T W O HDTV's, and seemingly every service
that's available,
and Y O U are complaining about voom raising their subscription rate by TEN
DOLLARS?

Good for you for making the money to afford all that and obviously a sizable
house to put them all in but the AVERAGE customer is not as fortunate in
life as you obviously are. Though it really doesn't matter how much one
makes. If Voom raising their subscription rate by ten dollars makes it
unaffordable for someone, then maybe they shouldn't have it in the first
place. That or make one less trip to McDonalds a month.

[VOOM] Re: New Promotions start 8/01/04

All I will say is this. Without getting into anyones personal
finances, everyone has a limit. I have reached mine. It is my
personal saturation point. As you say, I am paying plenty.
However, this is it. No more. I am fine with the $ 10 increase,
but no more.

Also, I am interested in this for the longevity of VOOM. It is not
just me, but I feel like a lot of people will not sign up or
continue their service if it becomes too costly. After a while, if
they do not sign up enough customers, VOOM will cease to exist and
none of us will have this service.

[VOOM] Re: New Promotions start 8/01/04

The particular Sear promotion you are speaking of has been a sore
spot for many who signed up for it. The free plus pak offer,
apparently was never run by VOOM first, and they consider it an
invalid offer.

As for the pricing you have now? It will remain as it is until the
end of Dec 04, provided you don't change anything.

Let me double ck on this for you. I know you can add a pak at the new
price without raising the basic, I'm not sure about dropping one.

[VOOM] Re: New Promotions start 8/01/04

I agree with Scott 100%. I have Direct TV and VOOM because I unlike
you are not willing to wait for Sci-Fi, Discovery Times, The Science
Channel and other + Regional Sports and the OUTDOOR Channel. I would
rather not pay $12 per month for regional sports + the outdoor
channel and for the other channels even though I could afford it. I
have VOOM receivers so I have a sizabel investment. I think VOOM
should wait on up prices until they have a complete line up that can
compete with Direct and Dish. I'm not even fine with the $10.00
because of the lack of needed channels. How is raising the monthly
fee $10.00 going to help VOOM in the short-term. Do you think
raising rates will attract for detract new subscribers from an
almost unknown entity.

[VOOM] (Dragonldy_mom)Re: New Promotions start 8/01/04

I was given the playboy channel for free for two months for some
major install issues at my house. I don't plan on continuing these
after the free period, am I going to have a problem if/when I cancel
the playboy channel?

Thanks,
Ken
