Groundbreaking Voom HD deal struck with Korea

Rainbow Media Holdings and Korean broadcaster Skylife's SkyHD are set to bring Voom HD programmes to Korea as part of the company’s biggest international content sale to date.

The companies have struck a two-year deal for 368 hours of Rainbow’s programming, which will enable nearly two million Korean households to view the primetime blocks in HD.

The line-up is culled from Rainbow’s extensive Voom HD suite of high-definition channels, including programming from Rave HD, Rush HD, Equator HD, Gallery HD, Treasure HD and Ultra HD.

Voom HD Networks general manager Greg Moyer and SkyHD president Keum Pyo Hong announced the new daily primetime schedule yesterday in Seoul, Korea, as a result of both companies’ groundbreaking June 2006 agreement.

“SkyHD is providing Korean television audiences a rich and diverse assortment of Voom HD programming that we believe truly demonstrates the appeal and entertainment value of high-definition television,” said Moyer.

Hong confirmed that SkyHD had selected a number of series and special programmes from Voom HD Networks’ catalogue for airing this fall, saying: “We are pleased to present an exceptional primetime line-up filled with quality, style and flavour.”
