Voom dead, which service now for HD?

dish and dirertv do not have playboy hd. i really don't think anyone else does either. if you live in an area that has a good cable company with a good satellite to cable promo, that is the way to go until the two satellite companies add more hd. directv looks the most promising when it comes to hd. dish has no current plans for hd.
Yes, of course Dish Network has HD receivers, if that's what you mean.
They currently have:
811 (1 sat-in, 1 ota-in, 1 tv)
921 (2 sat-in, 1 ota-in, 1 tv, dvr)
942 (2 sat-in, 1 ota-in, 2 tvs, dvr)
6000 (older model, not familiar with it...)

After I found out that Voom was cutting us off I started looking for alternatives.
I found this company that provides satellite service and they carry quite a few American and Canadian HD channels, they also have the movie network and a few others as well.
I have had it up and running for a few weeks now and I am pretty pleased with it so far.
I don't want to blatently spam the site so if anyone wants any info just send me an email and I'll give you the companys information and you can check them out for yourselves.

I just had Dish installed this morning and already I am missing Voom's HD programing
I don't think that either Dish or Direct offer enough HD content to warent paying extra for it so I will wait untill they do and put up with sd

But at 9.99 a block they can keep wishin. Playboy was worth the 14.95 a month because some of the shows they had were funny. The hd porn when spice tv came on was an added bonus.
DO either of the other 2 sat companies offer local hd thru the reciever the same way voom does? I will really miss that part of the voom service if not.

Yes, they both have ATSC tuners built into their STB. On thing about E* that you might check on is the inclusion of the OTA programming guide data. I know E* didn't provide it in the past but has started to roll it out recently, don't know if all markets have it or not. Also, to get the OTA programming guide data on their 921 PVR you MUST also subscribe to their local into local package for that area.
I had dish b4 voom, I quess i'll go with direct this time since it sounds like they are about the same and i can get all the new customer deals if I can force myself to make the call. I just cant let go of voom. I think i need counseling.
I'd love to get HD from directv - I tried that before going to Voom. Trouble is, although I get standard directv, the installers couldn't locate all 3 sats required for HD directv, even said with a tower it was likely I couldn't get all 3. Anyone got any advice? My 55" LCD really is less than impressive without an HD signal. I can get Time Warner Cable, but I really don't know much about the quality of their HD programming. Its a bummer to have gone Voom. I can't believe regular directv customers like myself aren't able to get the HD content. They're going to lose what was a very loyal customer.

a trick for getting the 119 sat is to use multiple 18" round dishes, and run them through a multiswitch. that way, if you can get the signal for one sat in one location on your house and the other sat in another location, you arent screwed by having to use the oval dish. same type of setup as setting up a 72.5 dish.

We were flat out spoiled with Voom. There isn't anything out there like it. When E* / D* get MPG4 figured out I'm hoping they'll have some bandwidth to greatly increase their HD offerings. With Voom I was getting 50+ HD channels between the Voom Satellite programming (VaVaVoom) and OTA. The local cable company rep was confused when I gave them the 'whoop de doo' look when they bragged about their 15 HD channels.
