[VOOM] Caller ID with new updated software! Wilt can you help

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

Ty, when you plug your phone line into the Voom receiver, and assuming you
have Callerid with your phone company, the person's phone# will appear on
your tv screen letting you know they're calling.

Just a note, My caller ID worked fine with the first phone call after the software update, and has continued to do so, every call is correct, no reboots, no problems.

Mine worked for the 1st time last night using Opt Voice. So I know it
works. Guess it's just buggy right now... : )

Yes, after a reset the Caller ID defaults back to "off". Another
apparent bug. I hope a fix for the caller ID can come soon. I
really love this function. It is very useful when the phone rings
and you can see on your TV who it is. A great concept. I hope the
bugs will be fixed soon.

[VOOM] Re: On Screen Caller ID Function No Longer Works!!

I think I just realized a common link to my daily lock up (last 4
days it locks on current channel and no buttons on remote or front
panel do anything and requires a hard boot). I think it may have
been about that long since I tried turning on the caller ID function.
Does anyone else have this problem?

One annoying thing that's been happening lately is I have to rehide
half my local channels everyday. I check the system and it hasn't
rebooted or anything. Last reboot was on 11/24 yet I have to keep
rehiding the same unused locals once daily.. Wilt have you noticed
this? Whats weird is, say I have 15 hidden only 1/2 of those become
unhidden daily.

RE: [VOOM] Re: On Screen Caller ID Function No Longer Works!!

Ever since v2.30 was downloaded I have to reboot at least once per day
due to lock ups. I never had this problem before. By the way, there is
no issue with my other stb (on my non-hdtv). The constant rebooting is
very annoying. And yes, caller ID has to be reset everytime.

[VOOM] Re: On Screen Caller ID Function No Longer Works!!

Yeah, I have seen this, too. My boxes keep locking and need to be
reset in order for the caller ID to work. I have a feeling the
locking is due to the caller ID somehow. If it continues I will
have to turn off the caller ID permanently. I really wish they
would issue a fix for the Caller ID. It is a very useful function,
but has been a disaster technically speaking.

Not me.. I never turned on callerid because I'm waiting for my portable
phone jack's to arrive (ebay 65% off retail baby!). I've been on the new
software since the 2nd day they released it and I haven't had any problems
at all. .. and man am I glad!!

Now that I've seen all these bug rpts I think I'll leave that callerid

RE: [VOOM] Re: On Screen Caller ID Function No Longer Works!!

I have had it turned on for about a week and haven't had any problems.

Not me.. I never turned on callerid because I'm waiting for my portable
phone jack's to arrive (ebay 65% off retail baby!). I've been on the new
software since the 2nd day they released it and I haven't had any problems
at all. .. and man am I glad!!

Now that I've seen all these bug rpts I think I'll leave that callerid
function off until everyone gives a thumbs up!

The thing that's got me scratching my head is that it seems to be
related to Caller ID but I never turned it back on after the first
time I did a hard reboot and as was mentioned earlier, it defaults
to caller ID OFF after this reboot. So why would I continue to have
the daily reboot?
Is anyone having to reboot daily that did not enable caller ID?

[VOOM] Re: On Screen Caller ID Function No Longer Works!!

This seems to be proof that it is the caller ID that is causing the
lockups. I am thinking of turning it off completely. I almost sure
this is what is causing my lockups and resets. I really wish VOOM
would issue a fix for the caller ID, because I really like using it,
but if it causes these lockups it is not worth it.

[VOOM] Re: On Screen Caller ID Function No Longer Works!!

FYI
My phone was ringing like crazy last night, all calls displayed on
the ID properly and no lock ups. I think my last lockup was on 11/24
and the caller ID has been set to on during this time.
Hope I didn't just jinx myself : )
