VOOM 129 or 61.5?

Which of the two satellites is the dominant one? I have dishes pointing at both locations. 61.5 has a stronger signal. But it seems that the software is set up so the 129 signal is the default.

Is there any way to check to see if this is true??

61.5 spews a potent video stream here in VA. The signal strength on 129 is about 10 points less in my neck of the woods. I'm sure it would be the opposite for left coasties. I don't think the receivers really care (software) and E* has not announced their programming plans for 61.5 and 129 - mostly due to pending FCC approval of the Rainbow-1 satellite.

Here is what I mean. If you have two satellite dishes, one pointed at each satellite, you will only get one set of 10 VOOM channels. Not two sets, 20 channels. Therefore the software must be set up to select one over the other. Right?

That was my question. And I am thinking that the one which is selected first from the software is the 129 satellite?!?!

I thought the duplicate channels removed was random, but you're right what I've read so far is 129 is what is shown. That doesn't make 129 the better sat.

129 satellite is very old and barley hanging on and voom is uplinked by dish
61.5 satellite is pretty new and voom channels are directly uplinked by voom

Ahhhhh! Thanks! Now I understand. I'm going to remove 129 from my satellite list. My VOOM signal is so much stronger on 61.5.

I'm sure if you had bad weather and the 129 sat lost to much signal then the 61.5 sat's voom channels would kick in. Somebody needs to try this - turn to a voom channel and be talking to someone on a cell phone. Tell them to put some foil over the eye of the 129 satellite lnb real quick and see if the 61.5's voom channels come in. I would bet that they wouldn't automatically you would have to turn the channel and then turn it right back and that would let it transition to the 61.5 sat.

I am willing to give that a try. Tomorrow is Thursday. Sounds like a great day for doing an experiement. I wonder if Dr. Frankenstein got his start this way. I'll let you know what happens.
