VOD Activation Information for HR21 CE Users

Part of the guidelines are:

- DO NOT CALL A CSR FOR ANY CE RELEATED ISSUE. If you have a problem report it here for logging and assistance

- DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE CE PROGRAM JUST TO GET NEW FEATURES. The purpose is to help DirecTV test new software and report back the findings, it's not for the casual CE'er that only wants to download CE software because it has a new feature.

- CE SOFTWARE IS ONLY AVAILABLE DURING THE CE DOWNLOAD WINDOWS. Needs to be mentioned again since I've seen a number of posts today alone from people saying they're doing a forced download and nothing's changing. If you do a forced download outside the window all you're doing is downloading the current national release of the software. This means if you do have a CE level of software on your box and you do a forced download it will revert the box back to the national level of software. The ONLY time you can get CE software is during the announced CE download window. You need to check the announcements in this forum to see when CE's will be available for a particular model/manufacture. The majority of the time these occur on Friday/Saturday nights from 11:00PM to 2:30AM. On a VERY rare occasion there has been a mid week CE or a one night only CE.

Ok. I have Hr21-700 and have been waiting for 2 months to have ondemand. Just called Directv 800 number and activated ondemand. Nothing yet in my menu, but on my directv.com account, it get Directv On-demand under recent activity. I am watching a recording of Ghost Hunters International right now, will try ondemand when finished watching. Oh and I have current CE version.

Just give it some time. Assuming your network internet connection is good the guide will eventually get the DoD stuff.

Yes I have a good internet connection. Just waiting right now.

CE's must be downloaded on Friday or Saturday night, 11pm EST - 2am EST - IF AVAILABLE.

They don't do it every week - but many.

We usually post the info Friday afternoon as soon as DirecTV puts it out to us.

The process for downloading is to reboot and use 02468. See the 2 stickies at the top of this section for the details and check back Friday

Well, I'm glad some of the info about activating DoD has worked for some of you but the frustration continues for alot of us out here. From what I've been reading, unless you have downloaded the latest CE (2/1/08-2/2/08), you can not get DoD yet. Any other suggestions out there? I have the 0193 release still on my HR21-700 and have tried the download 3x's. I'm sure it has to do with the NR when I download.
any help appreciated.

Same problem here. I called and activated it hours ago and still nothing. All I get is "coming soon" when i choose on demand. My software version is 0195

In your case, you need the latest CE version. You still have national release software without VOD enabled. You have to download CE.

I have version 01F8, I do not think version 0195 is a CE version. You have to wait for the window to download it. Watch the forum for announcements of when that happens.

I had my HR21 hooked up to the internet for a week with the last two CE's. Downloaded the last one last Friday night. I just tried the phone call thing on a whim today and it worked. Did the computer come back and tell you that it was activated? I also got an email aknowledging my change in programming. I did not change anything but that phone call. The menus opened up within an hour of my phone call, but the programming choices came throught the day. They downloaded over a few hours.

Yup have had mine hooked up to internet since I bought it back in January. Downloaded the last 2 CE's. Called tonight at 10:30PM EST. and voice said Directv ondemand is now activated. As of right now, no Ondemand. I have hr21-700.

It must be random then. Got my box mid Jan. So I haven't had it long either. Had to change my router/cable modem to increase bandwidth( unrelated problem ) that is why only really hooked up for a week. I have my box hard wired to my router. The only other difference is I am in AZ. That should not matter from what I have read. Nothing talks about coastal differences for DOD, at least what I have seen. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Bad Idea IMO to sticky this, and include this thread on the front page. It gives people the wrong reason as to why to participate in the CE program.

Guy VOD just came out for Nationally as a Beta for the Hr20-700/100 only.

How do I verify the version my HR-21 is currently on?
