Can I use this ext hard drive content on my hopper dvr? I was told by the installer that upgraded me that I could not.

No, that is incorrect. The 612/622/722/722k/922 EHDs are indeed compatible with the Hopper.

That was fixed with S215 (now on S217 soon to be S220 hopefully.)
