vip722 in rv

Hello to everyone, just joined. I hope someone can help, First let me say I'm disabled so gettintaround is hard so when I go camping I can't do much other than sit around. Thats where sat.. tv comes in handy.

Here is the problem, I'm taking the vip722 from home and hooking it up to a basic winegard single lnb portable dish. I run the cable from the dish to the vip722 sat1 input and the home dist to the tv. direct hookup no splitter or seperator. I tune into sat. 119 with no trouble. The problem is this trashes the hard drive. i've just trashed my second vip722, same thing each time.

If I take my son's dish hd single dvr rec. ( not sure of model # ) I have no problems. So I must be doing something wrong. I don't care if I only get sat. 119 I'm just tired of burning out the hard drives. I don't want to get a rec just for the camper just to use it 10 times a year.

Do you run a check switch when setting up the receiver. Maybe the reciever is bouncing around in your camper, if you have one. How are you transporting the receiver.

yep everything works but the hard drive. I get an error message that says the drive is corupt an must be erased. After doing that I am unable to record, pause, ect. I transport it in my truck and not the camper. It is handled gently. and unpluged with wait time b4 moving. If it can survive a UPS shipment it can stand up to my handleing. I have used other dish dvr systems in the camper, but only the vip722 seems to fry itself every time.

Speaking of UPS, are you running off shore power or genny?

How "toasty" do you keep the rig?
