ViP722 got new SW - L4.42

VC1 is the public domain version of the WM9 video codec. It is not MPEG-4.

MPEG-4 often also referred to as H.264 or AVC when speaking of it as a High Definition codec.

Cheers,

This makes me wonder if the 722's VC1 chipset is why it will have the ability to receive HD VOD. Perhaps the codec for VOD is WMV? Does anyone know on this? Just curious.

I have same thoughts - Internet is full of VC-1 encoded movies, some HD/BR disks too.

AT&T already using new BCM7412 in 622HZ DVR and provide access to their video libs and Internet.

Think XBL when you wonder with E* VOD will be like....

Same quality etc......VC-1 is what is used there for all content. SD and HD. Its a tad better than x264 in THIS implementation
