 I recently had to cancel my dish service. I still own a VIP 622 and would like to use it to (manually) record local OTA. Is this possible?

with the vip receivers. dish put in code where it has to be active for the ota tuner to be viewable. The least you could pay is a $5 service access fee and the $6 hd enabling fee, plus you'd have to be connected to the satellite.

Yes, but there would be no guide data so you'd have to have manual timers for everything
