It's not about the money, it's about the mandatory technician dropping by to exchange a box that is already in place. The cable company will just hand me boxes all day long if I drop by their office. I'm not terribly interested in taking time off from work and losing money just because it's their 'policy' which they overrode before for the VIP722.
Instead, I'll stay out of contract and leave what I have. But I will keep it in mind if the cable company decides to offer me a ridiculous deal.
I would've just gone and bought a 922 outright, but they still want the same amount of money whether they own it or whether I do. Not much incentive there.
