vip 722 phantom recordings

I search the forums, but could not find this problem anywhere. The past 2 days my receiver did it's normal check for updates at 6 am. When the receiver powered back up both tuners started recording shows. Stuff I don't even watch or would ever watch. My guide is set to list 1 so I don't have to see all the Home shopping stuff and any spanish channels. This mornings recordings was a spanish infomercial and something on disney xtreme. I cancelled both and them it started recording other programs. Yesterday I had about 5 hours of random programs. I did a reset, but I did not unplug the receiver yet. I will try that when I get home tonight. I was wondering if anybody else ever had this problem or has any suggestions. I have 2 vip 722 receivers that I got back in January of this year. Huh. I have NEVER had this happen on the 622/722/722k. Maybe someone here can offer better input.

Since they are phantom recordings it must be related to Halloween. Have no real idea why it would happen really, but just had to make the little joke.

Which tuner are they recording on?

If you have Record plus turned on and they are recording on Tuner TV1 there may be a neighbor with a dish receiver whose UHF remote is controling both receivers.

Change the channel the UHF remote is using to communicate with the receiver.

I have a neighbor who apparently has a ceiling fan similar to mine. He changed his code before I had a chance to change mine. Odd, since apparently he got up a lot earlier than us.

thanks for the help, I tried unplugging the receiver and will see what happens. There were no new recordings this morning when I got home.. Hopefully it was just a hiccup...
