ViP 622 & 722 Running Bug Thread

If you've watched something for a while and decided you want to keep what you've watched and record the rest, I thought if you hit record it did that. But when I tried to do that, it only recorded from when i hit the record button onward.
If you've really been on the channel since it started, after hitting REC, hit the Options button on-screen and it should give you the option to "Record entire event". Sometimes it doesn't though.... If not, do the rewind-to-the-beginning method already mentioned.

I notice this slight change also. My Admiral (Wife) also discovered it. You now have to rewind and hope that you have not past the 60 minute limit.

New Signal Meter?

I have searched but did not find an answer to this question.
With the addition of the "New" signal strength meter that came with our software update, what is the top signal strength now?
Since it no longer seems to go to 100, which to me is kind of crazy as it will just cause people to think their signal is now weak, how can you now tell when your signal is as good as it can get? Or too low for that matter.

Anyone had complete audio loss on (1) tuner ?? Ran into this yesterday for the 1st time. Normally run in dual mode and TV1 had NO audio (all channels). Put it in single mode, swapped to the other tuner, and had sound. Then it gets more odd... Put it back in dual mode and a while later my daughter goes upstairs to watch TV. A minute later she's yelling down that there's no sound (TV2). Previously I had to swap to TV2's tuner to get sound. Rebooted the box and all's been fine since.

Just to clarify, this occurred on the regular composite (RCA, i.e. red/white) audio outputs.

i had simimular problem but i lost video and my reciever said aqiring signal but i still had audio

Did you by chance have vertical color bars displayed?
My 622 has gone to the color bars with sound still playing 3 times in 2 days, it does not try to acquire signal, so I do a power button reboot to fix it
Anybody else have this problem?
Dan

We replaced one a couple months ago because the HDMI stopped working and now we have to send that one back because of the endless reboot. This is the second time my son has lost all of his recordings. We can't even try to transfer anything off because it just keeps rebooting. I hope third time is the charm. In the meantime our second 622 is (knock on wood) fine.

My software version moved from L445 to L447. Now all OTA audio is out of kilter. Sometimes when switching from one OTA to another I get one of the satellite tuners. When working it's like watching a poorly dubbed KungFu movie. Any fixes, or call Dish?

That makes three of us. I thought it was my new Integra DTC-9.8, but apparently it's the Dish receiver. I wish they'd leave things alone too. This is the first update that has screwed with my OTA reception and I'm NOT happy about it.

Arrghh... My HDMI went out on my 622 after a year. My first replacement would not give me a picture on TV2. It would show the guide and the menus but no video.

My second replacement reboots every 30 - 45 min. That chopped up my recordings this weekend (Messed up Lonesome Dove and the Sarah Connor Chronicles!)

I have the protection plan or whatever it is called. The CSR wanted me to have a tech come because of the "low probability that 2 boxes would malfunction" and she said "It might be the dish itself." I agreed and then she told me that would be $29.

After talking a while longer she offered to credit my account that fee. Do you guys think it could be the Dish? I also have an external HD. Would it be that? I am trying to figure out if I'm in for more trouble. Thanks for your help.

It actually could be the boxes - I wouldn't necessarily go with her assessment that it's a low probability that 2 would malfunction. Dish's manufacturing QA is a bit lacking at times. No video could have been the dish/LNBs/switch, but then the 2nd box rebooting is most likely not a dish problem, unless it's maybe a grounding problem, which isn't likely. There is a possibility it didn't grab the software update correctly due to a misaligned dish, and that's causing the reboots, but my guess is it's just a bad box. If they want to send someone out, and it's free, fine, let them check the dish setup, and they should also have another 622 with them as well. Either way, you should be taken care of.

Multimedia menu. Can't add anything from my camera and can't delete what is already in there. I get the "There is no Multimedia device connected to the USB port" for both. Attention 860.

Software version: L448RBDD-N
Mode bug occurred in: Single
Dish setup: I have 2 dishes on the roof
Description of bug: Slow motion in the middle of recording
OTA Antenna: On the roof, not sure of the model

I did a search on the site and didn't see anything about this. It's happening more and more. In random places in recorded shows, both dish and ota, there is a spot of slow motion recording with no audio. It lasts about 3 seconds and only happens once a recording but not in all recordings. I don't know if it happens to both HD and SD recordings though. I wonder if I need a new box.

Yeah, I've noticed this happening too in the latest software revision. Not sure, but I think it's a software thing, not hardware. If it's bugging you, I'm sure they'll send you a new box if you ask, but if you can live with it, I'd maybe wait for the next software rev, and see if that fixes it. It's definitely annoying, but when it happens, you should be able to either just press play, or pause and play, and it will go back to normal. If it does, and you jump back a few seconds, it should play normally through the spot it just was glitching in. It's weird.
