VIP 612 Receiver / Signal Strength

Just curious, can I keep the VIP 612 receiver on at all times. I just recently changed from D* and with their DVR receiver I set up my Harmony remote to keep it on all the time and never had any issues. Also just a quick question about signal strength...I was just set up on the eastern arc in Maine yesterday and I have a clear line of sight to the satellites but I noticed that the best I can get for a signal is 52...Is that ok or will I have more issues with light rain/snow or really overcast days. Just don't know how a signal strength of 52 will hold up. Thanks

No, the receiver takes daily downloads at night, without them you will have problems. Non-dvr's can but dvr models need to put in standby. Also note there is an inactivity standby which if you don't disable, the receiver will go into standby on it's own. 52 may be low, which transponder?

I get the following readings...On Sat 77 I get a signal of 15 on transponder 1...on Sat 72 I get 45 on transponder 1 and on 61.5 I get 42 from transponder 22...This was an eastern arc installation completed yesterday and the tech said I had no line of sight issues.

I did change the transponder on 61.5 from 22 to 12 and the signal got into the high 60's but I could not save it to that transponder...It just went back to 22. Should I change it?...if so how do you make it stick?

Different transponders will come in varying signal strengths. If transponder 12, on the 61.5 is coming in the 60's then I wouldn't sweat a thing. The bottom line is this...are your channels coming in fine with no signal breakup? If so...then I wouldn't read too much into things. Sidenote, don't worry about the 77 at this point.

Eastern Arc 77 Question

What Happened to Audio Channels 923-981? No Sound.
