Oh I hate this box!
I hear a lot of good stuff about it, more mem, faster blind scan etc but the down sides really make me want to take a baseball bat and beat it till its dust.
No realtime signal or quality graph during reposition, it shows yes, but it never tells the truth till i exit the positioner menu.
I can scan 20 degrees in either direction and not a beep, so I move incrementally then exit the motor menu. By doing that I can eventually get a correct reading.
Another thing that blows me away if that usals doesnt work at all on this reciever.
Im starting to suspect my motor now.
With the dish still set to IA-6 93 deg, I removed my Coolsat pro 4000.
I set the new viewsat on the counter connected the coax, set the coordinates for my lat and long. Turn to My TS sat and nothing.
Finally after some tweaking I got a signal.
The plus side is that I get more channels and they come in clearer.
But this is the least user friendly equipment I've seen since the demise of the Cyrix processor.
Where the Coolsat has a real time motor control and a graph thats pretty acurate.
The viewsat stays red even if the quality bar is at 80, then sometime later on, depending on its mood it decides to go green.
I suppose that if youre used to all this FTA stuff, its a pretty cool box.
But to us noobs, (me at least) it's a pain in the butt to set up.
To set your coordinates or even reposition the dish you have to hit one of the colored keys, but with the coolsat you just scroll down to the bottom of the main setup window and reposition on the fly.
This reciever is going back and the new Coolsat 5000 is on the way.
Come to think of it, I better order a new motor and get this one tested.
When I left last evening I set it to blind scan all the satellites that I know I can get at my location. I set all the satellites to usals, 10750, and scanned only the ones I have been seeing so far.
I come back today and the only sats listed as having channels are 93, 95, 91 deg.
Theyre all the same channels with a different name.
I tried another blind scan to see whats wrong and the dish never moved.
As before, I can manually lock in each of my fav sats and it starts moving.
Have I missed a step?
