The reason they came out with the VCRS with the card slot was becouse the VC2 was so widely hacked that it was alnmost impossible to find one that had not been hacked. So their thought was that if & when the VC2+ was hacked they could send you a card and that would kick in an extra layer and shut down the hackers. Kind of like D* I remember them sending me a new card when the old one had been hacked (I had D* for along time and I think they had swapped cards 2 times over the years). I don't know all the details surrounding it, but I remember it was a big deal when the VC2+ & VCRS came out, and they where discustingly expencive.
