Well indirectly, yes, and only because for some strange reason even as a small child I had a fascination with all things "antenna".
As far as microwave goes, I guess there is still a lot of it used even in this area. The networks from Duluth MN are microwaved to International Falls and rebroadcast in my area and I'm sure this area is no exception. It seems like the microwave transmission (or perhaps the re-transmitting equipment) is succeptable to changes in temperature as the signal from it becomes much better in the winter.
