Received a letter today from the Office of the Supervisor for the Town of Hempstead.
Basically it states that they have always been non-exclusive and that the lack of competition to cablevision was from potential competitors was the huge construction cost. Now that Verzion the improvements it sates they have directed the Town Hall staff to begin negotiation on an agreement that will allow Verizon to provide multi-channel, television service. The in the last paragraph it say "I want residents of Hempstead to be amon the first on Long Island to have a choice when it comes to cable television.
