My son just got rid of Visible, because it simply didn't work in most of the areas he needed it here in mid-Michigan. Which is odd, since Verizon is really good in the same areas.

Even though it's Verizon's newtork, my understanding is it's on a different switch. Verizon Prepaid works on the "old" or main network.
How long ago was that? Visible uses the full Verizon network. I've used their plan for over a year now with few problems. Deprioritization does slow down the data service briefly on congested towers from time to time, but even then we've been able to stream reliably with our hotspot in most cases.
My primary usage is data, so maybe that works better than the voice service. Most of the time my Visible SIM is installed in a hotspot, not a phone...

Nope I'm not on the Verizon Tether plan. I use one of the apps. Most people here that have Straight Talk love it.
Then I call Verizon about more for the same or less and get hinted to a prepaid plan.
I'm a 15+ year customer. Supposedly with my 5G capable phone, my plan was supposed to increase in price.
It didn't. Actually went down a few bucks.
But when I got my S III I was supposed to get grandfathered into the unlimited data plan.
I got cheesed when my bill only showed 2 gigs. Back and forth. The resolution was finally "We don't offer grandfathered plans any more". The sole reason for upgrading to the new S III from a Windows phone.
Yet all around me, the Best Buy kids and others telling me they were grandfathered with unlimited.
No ATT here. Ok. If you get on top of a hill. No Sprint. They're a disaster anyway.
Actually tin cans 'n string is better than Sprint anyways. Tracfone works. T-back Mobile....fuhgeddaboutit.
Nobody at Verizon says "Yes get it". But under their breath they say "That's what I have".

I'm curious to see what new plans come to Tracfone, StraightTalk, and the rest of the Tracfone family, if/when the Verizon takeover closes...
Verizon is taking over Tracfone. That was first announced last September.
Verizon to acquire TracFone Wireless, Inc.

Stupid Question. We're on Verizon Prepaid and I just ordered two Samsung Galaxy S21 5G phones (Unlocked) to replace our aging Galaxy S7 Edge and S8 4G phone. Do we need to replace our similarly aging SIM cards for 5G?
Had to replace our old SIM with a 5G SIM in order to get 5G service. The problem is we live just outside of the 5G towers (Dallas County) and our phones would continuously try to connect to the 5G tower (often miles away) and we would be getting something like 30Kbps download. Why and the hell the phones would attempt to connect to a weak/distant 5G tower instead of a nearby LTE tower is beyond me. Likewise, the call quality suffered tremendously and changing the settings, or a trip to Verizon, could not corrected the problems.
So I returned my phone to Samsung and went back to using my old Galaxy S8, but the missus kept hers (with the old SIM) because her Galaxy S7 died. Overall impression is that 5G is not ready for primetime. We live outside of the city for a reason...so we'll wait a year or two for 5G towers here in the burbs. C'est la vie.

I had the exact same issue on my iPhone 12. It's as if the handoff between LTE and 5G isn't seamless. I switched my primary line to ATT and the problem went away. No issues switching between 5G/LTE/4G with ATT on my phone now.
