Or do you look at the huge media markets of Vancouver, or Montreal. With a proper stadium and an owner not trying to lose on purpose, Montreal dwarfs all other North American possibilities by a large margin.

After what happened with the Expos, they won't move to Montreal, and Seattle would likely block a move to Vancouver. Plus they players union might object, as players hate being part of a Canadian team due to the associated taxes and restrictions.

Where is this in relation to the Strip? South end, towards Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, New York New York, etc?

That's Excalibur to its west, Luxor and Mandalay south from there. To its north is MGM.

So literally across the street from most of the properties you mentioned, at the south end right on the strip.

We stayed at the Trop last time we went to Vegas (2016). They were undergoing a lot of 'renovations' then and it wasn't an optimal experience there. I can see why they're willing to knock it down....

While the hotel at the Trop isnt the best, I love going to the casino there, as its the last of the old vegas casinos. And love that you can go upstairs and look out some of the peek holes that their security people would look through to catch cheaters before they had camera systems.

MLS just seems to be a black hole that city after city pours money down. Disappointed to see LV follow suit. It seems to be a well run metro area.

As to the Super Bowl, unsurprising, the city will do a great job and probably will be part of the unofficial rotation Although at 65K, it is a little small (some other smaller stadiums have the ability to be expanded for the Super Bowl, including Phoenix).

Eh, nobody's getting much money from the city or state for any of these projects after the Raiders deal (which isn't as bad as many make it sound, just the public won't stomach more of that). They'll get the usual tax/land incentives, otherwise people will need to bring the teams here the way Foley did with the Golden Knights. With the Athletics I could see some stadium district stuff beyond that or something, nothing too unusual.

Unofficial deadline was today for the A's and the City of Oakland to reach a deal on Howard Terminal. There is no deal, pushing key votes into 2023. Negotiations continue.

If the unlikely happens and they do come to Vegas, I believe the 37 acre festival grounds on the north end of the strip is expected to be the leading candidate for the home of the ballpark.

I lived in Vegas at the end of the mafia era. The mafia took care of that town and all its people. Crime was low, town was clean, and you could come to Vegas on any budget and truly enjoy it! Vegas has been destroyed by corporate greed! The town is falling apart, and crime is a massive problem! Resorts and their fees are making it impossible to go. Sad times for Vegas and I do not think sports will bring in the money.

Those were different times. good ones. Some People have so much $$$ they can't wait to dump some of it here, the corp's have taken away perk after perk makes no difference.

Playing 3 and 7/8ths seasons as a lame duck in an already neglected ballpark which the city probably will now not even change a burnt out lightbulb in, is something MLB really cannot let happen. Especially with the largest economic downturn in 40 years already in full swing. Las Vegas has a 10K seat AAA ball park that is only 5 years old and probably it could be massaged to get near 20K, which is more than the A's are going to draw in Oakland 95% of the time. Yes, it would be unpleasant to play outdoors in Las Vegas, and they would need the union to waive some of the travel rules (they would have to play all night games due to the heat, with no weekday day games or even Sunday day games (the union allowed the Rangers to play Sunday nights in the summer back in the 70s and early 80s) ). Still that is better than playing in Oakland until 2027.

I still think baseball is a iffy thing in Las Vegas. It would be very live gate dependent, and becoming the local team in a city where the vast majority have moved there from "back home" will be a generational thing. They are saying a "partially retractable roof" which seems like a waste, when exactly will it be cool enough to open it during baseball season?

I don't think they have a choice, as that's likely when the A's contract with the Oakland colosseum ends.

*edit* nevermind, just found where the lease expires after next season. So they're stuck for at least this season and next.
