Hello I am Green:D is it possible to use a primestar dish and lnb (NJR2112F) to view FTA c-band sats using a 4dtv receiver?

No the Primestar dishes are too small and the LNB you mentioned is for FSS ku only. When X4 had HITS on it it could have been used for the 4DTV ku services but those are now gone. You will have to get at least a 6 foot c band dish with feedhorn & LNB for c band to use it for anything good.

Thank you for your reply. Is there anything that these FFS units can view for free? I have several Dish and directv units lying around. I mean are there other birds we can see using this equipment?

FSS ku is used for Free to Air (FTA) but you must have a FTA receiver such as a Pansat. Here is a list of what is available: SatelliteGuys.US - TheList

Our own TheList is very good and very up to date, but might be a little too technical if you're really green - :D
(hey, what's wrong with being green? - - )
I like to start newbies out on FTAlist, which isn't much, but might be enough to get you hooked.
And THEN TheList, and other technical listings will be of more use to you. :)

Dish Network obsolete SuperDishes have an FSS LNB on them.
While a little small, you can get some FTA on 'em.
They were either for the 121° or the 105° bird.
DirecTV has an International dish which also has a proper LNB.
So, if you have either, ya might drag 'em out for experimenting.

* other good DVB receivers : - (these are not 4DTV compatible)
Coolsat 5000 or 6000
Traxis 3500
Pansat 3500, 2800, 2700 (and maybe more)
Fortec Star, Mercury II or Dynamic (same receiver, different front panel)
Visionsat IV-200 (with an external USB hard drive, it becomes a PVR)
- listed in no particular order, but all do have blind scan, a necessary feature -

Nope. A previously subscribed Dish receiver should be able to pickup NASA & Angel One for free on 119°, but this does not work with a new or never used unit.
