Using DTV remotes with other devices

I have two DTV remotes, an RC24 and an RC65RX. I'd like to use them to operate other devices but I don't have the code list or the procedure for doing it. Can anyone help?

In my opinion its not a good idea to use dtv or dish remotes to control other devices. Unless you don't have a remote to control the device you want. The original remote to the device is the best bet, because there are buttons on that remote that the dtv/dish remotes won't do. Ex, opening the tray on a DVD player
