Just had a 2 hopper system installed 2 months ago. Upgrading to the Hopper 3 today. Tech arrived and said I need a 2nd dish to get HD locals on Hopper 3. Is this correct?

Cincinnati market. Zip = 47025

Cincinnati.

I am not sure I was looking at a current list when I said they were on the 77. No date on the list.

Yes, it looks like Cincinnati is on 77 so you will need 2 dishes for a Hopper3 installation.

Your locals are on 77. That is current. The reason you need a second wing dish is because the new Hybrid LNB for Eastern Arc only looks at 61.5 and 72.7. There are very few areas with local channels on 77.

Your old setup was probably my current setup, a "three eyed" 1000.4 dish/LNB.

You could wait until late this year and get the next LNB setup coming out, which will let you get you locals. Or install now and do without locals until late this year, upgrading then to the new setup . If they let you.

"Late this year" refers to a Echostarian year, which may or may not have any connection with a Gregorian, Julian or Jewish calendar. ;) :oldwink

Ah, this must be my problem as well. Just finished chatting with Tech support and was told that "Hopper 3 is not compatible" with the satellites in my area (north Louisiana). However, he couldn't give me any details. Makes more sense that the new setup (for some reason) won't see the satellite with locals on it.

Yeah I called last night to upgrade my system to a hopper 3 and was told that I couldn't do it because of my satellites also. After a couple of transfers up the chain, found out that it was because I have an
old 72 wing dish hooked up to a dpp44. Went downstairs unhooked that, they did a refresh on their system, everything was good to go. Should see the tech Thursday.

Naw, it's the Monroe - Ruston axis effect, as modified by Bastrop!

I was born in Ouachita Parish. Fished Lovelace and other lakes.

His local HD channels are on 61.5. I see no reason why he can't get set up right now.
