Uplink Activity Report - 6/18/2008 1:26pm - 2 changes

OK, for those ppl who want step up and help improve speed and accuracy of uplink reports, I would do short introduction in the process.
So far a couple ppl - JohnH and Digiblur take their time ( and money ) to run it.

They does approach in both components - hardware ( dish, DVB-S PC card, PC) and software (TSReader and Digi's own program; not sure what software using JohnH ).
Periodically, in time defined by empirical rules, observers taking snapshots of current status of SDT [channels] and NIT [sat/tpn] tables in HTML format by utilize TSReader function.

Then those HTML files parsed, and compared then uplink report produced and published here and at dbstalk.

First, you'll need HW and SW if you expect do that reports alone from scratch.
Other way is to be involved in SW development, because those files could be getting thru email or ftp request from repository.
Third - just run all existing program what will do uplink reports and your goal will be final verification ( in case something new occur ) and post the reports here or there.

Today we have additional source of the raw data - full channel's and transponder's tables, what producing same second when they begin spooling, without delay and HTML wrapping. That's what I mean above telling of CSV files.
Those file could be imported into Excel if you prefer writing VBA macros, or into Access if you more sufficient in queries development, etc.
This last phase of processing new format files taking real time not done yet. Digi is busy and stuck with own old code, JohnH not interesting, and no more takers. Everyone want to see ready reports, without spend a little your own time and contribute in return.

interesting note I have a channel 75 that says hd local in your area!!!????

Same here in New Orleans, the guide and info says " HD local channels are now available in your area. Tune in to learn more, etc. " Then when you tune to the channel 75, it says "NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR AREA"

Dish wins the award again!!
Which is it ? Are they available as the info and guide says
or are they not available as the channel says when you click on it?

I already have my locals from Birmingham. I am not seeing channel 75 in my guide. So maybe it is being sent to the ones that will be getting locals soon.

Just a small nitpick:

I've removed all the changes above, except two, to highlight that what actually happened in most cases was simply a change in channel number.

Is there any way that the software can notice that everything is the same except the channel number, and report it as a channel number change ?

One reason is that the current way of displaying it causes people to think that a) a channel was added, OMG ! or b) a channel was deleted, OMG !!!

I haven't even seen New Orleans on a list in a while. I hear most of the New Orleans folks say the weather is beautiful at their new "address" in Birmingham, AL though.

Believe me, the only thing keeping me from moving now during baseball season is my cousin/godchild plays aaa ball for the round rock express, which shows some of the games on fox southwest and when they play the new orleans zephyrs on cox sports. If birmingham had foxsw, i would have moved already. After baseball season, if no new orleans hd, i will move to birmingham, if they are still conus

They aren't CONUS but the spotbeam on 119 covers our area very well and they have all 4 networks. Jackson and Mobile are two other candidates but they are missing 1 network each.

It could be done for the rare cases it happens... I think...without screwing up something else. but it is the reason why I put the add section first to kill the OMG jawdrop.
