Before I have the Dish Installer come out to the house, I wanted to get some information. I am planning on upgrading to HD.

I currently have the following:
  • Dish 500 with DP Quad Switch
  • DVR 522
  • DVR 625
  • Satellites: 119w & 110
  • Zipcode: 08844
  • NYC Locals
I know that Dish needs to replace the antenna with a 1000 series and the DVR's with HD versions.

Questions:
1. Will the new antenna point in the same direction?
2. If not, what satellites will be used?
3. Can I use 1 coax cable (with a seperator) to the new receivers?
Thanks,
John

1. You will have a 1000.4 installed.
2. it will point SSE to 61.5, 72.7, & 77. NYC HD locals are on 61.5
3 YES.

two receivers with a seperator, no will not work, you can use the seperator if your receiver has dual tuners. but not 2 seperate receivers. Found out the hard way..

He has dual tuners so separators will work on VIP, not sure on his Legacy. Not all channels are available on the eastern arc (EA) in standard def. The EA is only MPEG-4, even SD, so older receivers will NOT work. Dish seems to be moving from mixed arcs--WA=110+119+129 vs EA=61.5+72+77, pick one likely where you locals HD and SD are.
