Good Day Everyone!

We live just outside the US and currently have a DirecTV system based on our home address in the US. It is an older non-hd system and we have had to buy receivers off ebay etc over the years and kept it going. All the hardware is showing signs of aging.

We would like to just upgrade our entire system to HD. We have 3 units on it now.

I will try calling and seeing if DirecTV will offer an upgrade free or discounted, especially if we want to cancel or switch to Dish Network.

The main question is - if we do that, will they ship the units to the house and we can self-install? Do the cards come with them or separately after the install is complete?

Thanks!

Directv won't ship to your house outside if the US, but they may send it to your US house. The main issue besides whether or not you can get the equipment shipped, is reception. Depending upon where you are, you may not be able to get a strong enough signal for hd. Where exactly are you located?

This may help,

The cards are part of a set with the receiver.....they ship together....and are added to your account as the older equipment with their cards are taken off. While it is possible to slide the cards around it should not be necessary...the access card department is who you would talk to.

The HD sats are three degrees on either side of the SD sat at 101 degrees west log....that you are now using.
You will have to change to one of several dishes that will "see" the 99, 101 & 103 sats to get HD.

I wouldn't mention the "outside the United States" part too much.
