I don't currntly have HD but will eventually upgrade but for now I am happy with my SAT-A4. In the meantime a friend gave me an old AU9 slimline dish and when i tried to install i could only pick up an intermittent signal. I am 95% sure I have it pointed correctly and my signal strength will jump up to 97 but then nothing. Basically I have great signal about every 7 seconds. Is this dish compatible with my system or do i need to get a multswitch or something? Any thoughts?

to Satelliteguys!The dish should work fine with your receiver, if it is okay that is. You have to aim it at the 101 satellite. If you are using an older Phase III dish now, it points at 110.
which slimline? Is it a SWM setup with the power inserter?
I wonder if those old SatA4 receivers will work with a slimline?

it is a 5lnb slimline with four outputs. i don't believe it is SWM. All i can find on it is "WNC AU9", the serial # and "rev1C" . not sure i understand what you mean by power inserter
If it has 4 outputs then that is the one that doesnt need the power inserter.
The newer setup (SWM) has only one output on the LNB and it goes to a splitter. There is a power inserter that gets plugged in and that powers the LNB. The setup you have the receiver powers the LNB
If you are aiming it, you use the one that looks right down the LNB arm to aim. The two off to the side are 110 & 119. The one in the middle is 99/101/103 (all together)

Ice - You are thinking of the older AT9 with 110 and 119 on a sidecar. He has the AU9 Slimline.
I understand that but for aiming purposes the 110 & 119 are "off to the side" versus the 99/101/103 cluster which looks right down the barrel (well the arm)
