Upgrade to Blu Ray or just a Standard DVD?

That's where my research is sending me. I just hate to buy it and then find out I should have gone another route. What advantages does the Panny 55 have over the 50? Assuming that it's a more advanced model it may reduce the price of the 50 when it's out?

It will use the next gen uniphier chipset and will have a little more focus on ana log decoding.

So then am I to asssume the 50 model is just a filler and will be discontinued once the 55 hits the market to improve/correct things on the 50?

It wasn't a filler. It took longer to get out than expected due to a parts shortage. 55 probably won't be out until Nov.
