I have been a Dish customer for almost 3 years now. I am looking to upgrade to the Hopper but they keep telling me I would have to pay full price for the equipment. Is there no way to extend a contract and pay less? I just got a new HD tv and now have 2, I need another HD box, but no way do I want to pay full price.

Your history with DISH dictates what they will offer you and we can't help you change that.

I'm doubtful there is much discretion given to the Customer Service Representatives in this regard.

I would think three years with DISH should qualify to upgrade. Have you tried sending a PM to a member of the SIRY team to see if they can help?

That's unfortunately not how it works. Very often credit history is part of the equation. How often are payments late, how much is spent a month, were other discounts given recently? Get a second VIP receiver for now if the cost of upgrading to a Hopper is too much. A 211K is even less.

The "they keep telling me" is a pretty clear indication that the answer is final.

That being said, it won't hurt to try one last time. The DIRT people might even have some insights as to why.

Did you upgrade something in the last 12 months, this would explain your situation as when Dish upgrades you, you are not allowed another until 12 months after this. It has nothing to do with how long you have been a subscriber.

I think some of us from first hand experience will say that's not always true at all....... Just in the Hopper thread alone people were able to get a Hopper upgrade even though they had other upgrades or credits recently. Based on my experience on this, how much you spend on an ongoing basis, how long you have been spending it, and paying on time make a difference also, even if you did get an upgrade recently.

I'm not sure how many were actually able to do this but according to Dish's business rules a customer is not allowed to do a Dish'N It Up if they have already done one in the last 12 months. Taking advantage of other promos like programming do not account for this.

If the OP does not actually qualify for a Dish'N It Up then he must have an issue with his account with Dish. Also, if he does not have a credit card he will not be able to upgrade.

Neither am I, just throwing this point out. I am taking into account that this is the OP's first post and believe that there may be something being omitted here.

I think it's been posted here that the one year wait rule for DIU has been dropped.
