upfront fee for HR20 or HR21?

just called Direct TV and inquired about an HR20 or HR21 and they quoted me a $299.00 price and a $50 upfront fee + $19.95 shipping. Anybody ever heard of this. I will be heading to best buy or circuit city instead.

They all sell it for $299.00, Costco will sell them for $269.00. If you call back you might get it for $199.00

They didn't sell it actually - you'll pay the nonrefundable lease fee.

that is correct when I got my HR20-700 they told me to own the receiver it would cost me at least $700 and the money I paid I was informed it was to lease the machine which was around 250.
