Here is a PDF with some updated information on the PocketDish units by Archos!

We are expecting the Pocket Dish Units to be available next week at DishStore.NET, unless there is a delay from Dish.

I am torn between the 4 inch version and the 7 inch version.

I am supposed to be getting a 4 inch version to review but have not received it yet. The one they are sending me to review is not mine to keep. :(

These should drop in price as time goes on and perhaps better versions as well in the near future. With this being the first version there can be many enhancements to look forward to in the future.

Does anybody have a non-Dish branded one to try to plug in now? If Im going to spend the money on one of these, I want the 100GB AV700E.

So it is possible to record the HD feed (downconverted) through the A/V source to the pocket... Understood that it is real time but it is possible, right?

What's the difference in prices for each one?

that should work fine for either the 500 or the 700.

My girlfriend has an archos gmini 400 now, and I thought of trying it. I was on the phone with an advanced tech support person at dish the other day, and I mentioned it, and he said there was a special loader on the firmware for the dish branded versions that's used to copy the content. What would be interesting is if this dish firmware will ever make it out for users to download, and if it will work on her gmini400 or not.

I will be able to answer all your questions on this in a bit, I am working on something now.

(Just didn't want you guys to think I was ignoring you) :D
