922 sounds like one big price rape.
Maybe I'm biased, but I'll stick with my 722K & my HDMI Extender for TV2.

Thanks!! I dont bother with the On Demand now becouse its kind of a pain looking fo stuff, when I had Direct the On Demand had its advantages for kid shows!!

I think at whatever the price it still does LESS than the 722K and a 722K with a stand alone Sling...much less.
If there is one thing this site is reliable for is that it has pretty reliable speculation. Looking at the price points that have been tossed around, MY OPINION is that for ME, this box is nothing but a new gui for an upgrade price.
If offers nothing more than integrated sling and even disables some of the features that many of us are using... All for a hobbled box that should have never been announced as early as it was...
Once again, Scott, those are my views and may not reflect yours. Maybe you could tell me what about the 922 makes it a viable update to a 722K with OTA tuners (beyond Sling).
I call it a price rape, because it will cost you money to get into it and cost you more money every month and it really offers nothing more than a gui update and a sling box.
EXACTLY! I am waiting for the adapter and hd media extender too. The rest doesn't really matter to me now.
I already have a computer, why would I need it on my sat receiver too? I had a web tv dish player back in 99 and that was my first exposure to the internet. It made me get a real pc in 2001. So that doesn't really interest me in the 922.
The only thing that sounds cool to me is the new guides and channel logos. But it doesn't make me want to pay another $4.00 a month for dvr fees. It certainly doesn't make me want to pay $21.00 for a second 922 dvr on my account. No, I think I'll stick with my 722k and add the sling adapter and hd media extender to get my tv 2 in hd on my master bedroom hd tv.
Doubt it. Unless DISH allows companies like NEtflix to use their dvrs to download movies. I don't see that happening because DISH doesn't play well with other companies.

Same here. I have two hdtv's on a hdmi splitter on tv1 and two sd on tv2. I would be losing and not gaining with the 922.
Well, so much for buying a 922. I was looking forward to the new Sling-enabled receiver, but it seems that it would just complicate my setup for very little benefit.
Right now I can watch HD content on my 2nd TV using the component output from my 622. If both TV's are in use, I can switch to dual mode and watch something different in SD on my 2nd TV. All of this can currently be controlled by the same remote.
If I purchase a 922, I will need the main receiver plus another sling catcher box. I'm assuming I could still watch TV1 on my 2nd TV through the component output, but then if I need to switch to TV2 it will require using a completely separate remote. While that may work for me, I can tell you there is no way my girlfriend will ever figure out which remote she needs to use when.
This would have been a great box if it had sling capability on a 3rd tuner, but unfortunately it really doesn't interest me anymore.

Years ago didn't they advertise a software update (that never happened) for the 721 to be able to connect and surf the internet via dsl modem with a usb connection for a keyboard? I would enjoy that on my hdtv's. Could be wrong. I remember reading something along those lines............That would be a nice feature for the 922 but then again I would get a virus and mess everything up..........

No. the DLNA is so you can look at pictures and play music from your PC on your 922. It does not serve video via DLNA to other DLNA devices.
It currently does not stream video via DLNA from your PC. Just pictures and music at the moment.
