When using an AV Receiver to upconvert video to 1080p, should a DISH Network customer set their HD receiver to 720p or 1080i?

I know the rule of thumb of 720p being better for action and 1080i being better for detail - 1080p should be the best of both worlds! I realize that the other factor is the source resolution itself (which is a whole other topic with DISH), but I am focusing on which receiver setting will produce a better upconvert.

(Details on why would also be appreciated ;).)

Thanks-
Red

Not sure for 1080p but I set mine for 1080i out of the Dish 622 because the TV is better at converting to 720p. I would assume that the conversion would be cleaner from 1080i to 1080p
