Unusual DTV Signal Loss

Chage to a larger antenna or mount the one you have higher off ground level. You're only 20mi from KC.

A larger antenna or adding an amp can KILL your digital reception. Unlike analog, where a strong signal does not hurt, a digital signal can go to pot if too strong. Our VHF digital has one of the top strongest signals in the area (see TVFool.com ) and we use attenuators for several things. For my home system, I have a 12db pad on the input to keep breaking up from happening. I use a 5 bay vhf/uhf antenna. At one of our translator sites, 19 miles from the transmitter, we had pixelation until adding the attenuator. These are the inline "F" type of attenuator. You will see the signal level go up. For our news vans, we were getting full scale signals and had to attenuate those also. The Radio Shack "RV" antennas are used on those.

Anyway, sometimes attenuating the signal will fix problems. It does for the top 3 in my area.
