Directv La La Land
I figured I write this considering what went on in another thread.

First off I will say this, if the billing system removes credits because an the red credit flag was raised it will take some time to get reversed and find a manager willing to remove it . Most will see the flag and tell you tough noogies. Some like my self are actually willing to review the account. And if the billing system wrongfully flaged the account then dtv will take care of it, like in the case of another sateguys member it was reseversed and taken care of.

First thing you should know about credits is every deparment has different credits.

The first department you will speak too at direct tv is the Billing and General Information department. We carry some offers and you have to remember not all offers are available to all customers. Our systems look at the account and then display offers it says you available for.

So lines like my cousin got this discount I want it too often does not work.

Also we seldom have the ability to give out free hbo. We have not had that offer in a while so dont ask for it we dont have it.

Billing department does not have NFL ST offers best way to get those is say you want to cancel nfl st ( you have till today before tonights game to cancel ) That will get you over to the A group known as Premium Save Team which they handle all request to cancel premium channels and sports packages. They have some offers available again they are automatically generated per account. These are the people who generally can hand out the free super fan. But I will warn that frequent use of threatening to cancel things like NFLST will result in deminish returns down the road. Basically if you threathen to cancel ever year you not likely to get free superfan after a while.

Remember DTV is a Business not a charity.

If you call up and say hey look things are getting bad around here I been a customer for a long time ( only say that if you have ) and I just cant afford Super fan or nflst or NHL CI etc. You will most liely get the best offer the agent can give over having to haggle over it by calling in mad screaming how it not fair how someone got a deal and you didnt.

Also I would like to touch briefly on the credit flag and excessive credit letter. They are really two separate things . The Flag get automatically raised by our billing application I dont know the criteria it looks for but it is some forumla and will send up a warning flag and reverse the last credit on the account that cause the flag to go up in the first place. Generally most people dont even notice because the flag goes up audit team steps in they reiew the account ( sometimes it takes longer then usual ) and they basically confirm the flag or remove it if it was triggered by something mondaine like crediting back for a NRF for a reciver a tech took back versus mailing in. Yes it happens. Ok the excessive credit leter happens when they reivew the account and see that your always calling in to get a credit / discount /etc basically you call ever year to scream your going to cancel and go to dish so rentions give you a credit then you call up every season and trhy to cancel any one of the sports package to get a discount on them. When you basically playing the system too much a letter will go out saying basically stop it or we will can the account. These letters are rare yes I known some people that have gotten them but overall it is rare to get said letter

Note also calling in 10 times day playing csr roulutte does not work very well also when we see someone callin 10 times tody about xyz credit they want we just going to repeat the sme thing you were told the last 10 times. call if you get denied wait a day or two and then call back. But repeative calling all in one day does not work.

Some other tips

You have a tad bit more leverage if you are

near the end or out of your commitment

been with us 3 years or longer

Have a good pay history

All those pay a factor in what credits the system says your elibalbe for.

Right from the CSR mouth, great advice stonecold :)

The rare 'knock it off credit letter', wonder just how many of those people sub to NFLST and read these forums ;)

No the NFL ST promo that they run ever year for new customer is a speciality deal between dtv and the nfl.

There is a thread around here about an nhl promotion going on. I know of the offers but cant really go into detail on them but they have been mentioned here before.

Any chance of ever getting NHLCI instead of the NFL ST package in the promotional pricing?

Call and calmly explain your displeasure about no Versus and the loss of hockey. Mentioning NO MSG-HD and MSG-HD+ will get you no where. It appears by your avatar you love hockey. This should result in Free Center Ice.

I am not a D* sub yet. I would seriously considering subbing tomorrow, if they substituted NHLCI for NFL ST. I don't feel that NFL ST is such a great value, unless you heavy fantasy football player or big time gambler. There is plenty of nfl football availalbe all over dial now, and with my wife being Canadian, NHLCI is a must for her to see her team. The MSG situation, wouldn't be a problem in my part country because they would be part of my DMA, and I would get them in HD. They would need to resolve their VS issue too though.
