Unable to align dish

Did you even read the OP? He clearly states that he has an active receiver at a location other than his service address.
Then I WOULD apologize he clearly is stealing, and this thread should have been locked.

BUT it didn't say he has 2 active locations, he just said he has service at a different location then what is listed on his account.

Which is why I asked why would you do that unless you were in Canada.

He also said he has one TV and only mentioned one receiver (a 311). So I think you were right to begin with.

But he's paying his bill obviously, so IMHO that isn't theft of services.
My original question remains.

Why do you have Service at a different location then your service and billing addresses?

If it was a Vacation home, lodge or what ever else that
Rvquero listed , he wouldn't have lived there for 10 years.

Even customers that "Move" or take receivers to their vacation homes, have atleast one legit Service or Billing address.

The different location is farm/hunting cabin. I use to have it as a separate account that I would turn off and on (weekends when I was at that location, I think they even had a name for it, snowbirds, could be wrong on the name). Dish was informed of this particular receiver when I upgraded all my home receivers from 211s to HD receivers and I requested an additional 311 receiver be an active receiver (5.99 a month) in a different location. The Customer Loyalist Rep instructed me to inform the install techs when they came out for the upgrade, so I could plug it in when I got to the cabin.
 
They will only come to the current service address, however if you google search for a local retailer, they will likely come out and do whatever you need done.

Thanks for search local retailers idea, I had not thought of that. After doing some searching today it has become a difficult task to be able to find a number for a local retailer that does not forward me to dish or no longer in service phone number. I did manage to find one individual but he is 120 miles away and want 50 cents a mile going and coming. I think I will set a new mount pole that is plumb and start over.

Snowbird is the correct term. What you described is not account stacking. As long as your are "technically" watching at both addresses simultaneously. If it's a weekend thing, and an owned receiver, even dish won't care if your wife is watching soaps at home, I would assume. Just remember to deactivate it when you come home so you are not charged for the time it's not in use.

This comment is unnecessary. The OP asked a question about what Dish's stance would be if he called them to service a location other than his service address. Harshness gave a good and accurate answer, based on the information available at the time. The OP had already stated that he had an active receiver for several years at a different location from his service address (house) where he also had upgraded equipment. This was all stated in the original post.

Dish does allow for people to take a receiver from their service address and use it at another location temporarily. This is apparent by their stance on allowing Snowbirds to take their equipment south for the Winter. It's also demonstrated by the fact that Dish sells tailgating equipment for people to use for camping trips, ball games, etc.

However, Dish does not condone or allow customers to constantly maintain active receivers at both a primary residence and a farm. This is account stacking. If this is what the OP has been doing, then Harshness gave him good advice. Do not call Dish to service at the second location.

Since you've personally changed your position twice on this issue, I don't think it's appropriate for you to be criticizing others who are trying to help the OP sort out his problem.

I didn't say that it was theft. I said DISH would be inclined to investigate. It is almost certainly a violation of the RCA if someone is contemplating a service call to other than the service address. Such violations can have dire consequences as detailed in the agreement.
And I see post here all the time about lying about your physical address to get out of market locals and rsns.
That the site management here at satelliteguys.us has adopted a policy of looking the other way or even encouraging "moving" doesn't change the terms and conditions nor what might happen if DISH finds out. "Moving" is based largely on DISH not finding out.

My point is that if you want DISH's help, you need to be in compliance with the current RCA.
 
And yet, Dish will allow you to have a separate receiver and a tailgater device on an account with your home service. That would technically allow someone to watch at home and separately at the tailgate. The radio ads even say to add the extra receiver for just $8 a month for the time that you need it. Seems that Dish isn't too worried about it and I doubt it is "against the law" if they are promoting it themselves on the radio.

If the other address is outside of his home's DMA it is against FCC rules (enacted by Congress and enforceable by law) and the RCA to be receiving distant local stations without a waiver

Tailgating is not a permanent activity. It is something that you might do for a few single days out of the month.

The same cannot be said of having a permanent secondary setup at a commercial facility.

Exactly my point. You stated it better/more clearly than I did. Dish is promoting the ability to watch in more than one place at a time with the tailgater device (remember it doesn't have to be used for tailgating).

Why do you equate the existence of the Tailgater with actively encouraging multi-location viewing?

I've always looked at tailgating and camping as events the whole family participates in.

On DISH's Tailgater page, they even speak to changing the service address for hardcore RVers.
 
I'm just talking about reality. They have made it much easier to legitimately have service in two places. If you don't believe that then I don't know what to tell you.

In what way? Did the RCA change substantially to promote or encourage multi-site installations?

Has having an self-installing dish available convinced you that you should have two or more locations where having conventional dishes were somehow discouraging such employment?

Your reasoning doesn't seem particularly reasonable given that the terms and conditions are substantially unchanged.
