Ummmm... Dishnetwork you need to see how quality HD looks

How do you Tell?

Most of Dish is 1440 x 1080, but the bitrate is in MPEG4 so that would be a lot more different then what FIOS is sending out. My understanding is that FIOS is using MPEG2 still for their HD.

Scott, I asked this in another thread, but no one could answer... Does your tv give you the info about 1440x1080 vs 1920x1080, or is there a 'diag' screen on the receiver that you can bring that info up? You guys seem to be in the know about it, & some one on the 'other' made a comment that Discovery was back up to 1920x1080 (on Dish), I was just wondering how I could see/tell what it is...

I have FIOS and Dish and I like Dish !The picture is about the same most of the HD is better than fios.The verizon guide and there dvr just suck. If you can get fios get the internet and keep dish .

1920 x 1080 is also 1080p. Same resolution, just one interlaces. Nobody is doing broadcast TV in 1080p at the moment.

At the moment I do not believe Verizon is doing any compression.

There have been occassional 1080P24 broadcast. Mostly as tests. No networks have tried it. All ATSC tuners are suppose to be able to handle 1080P24 and 1080P30 broadcasts. I don't think dish has tried it, but you never know.
