Two dishes

I’ve got a couple buddies that install for dish and they both told me that if I went to the east coast I’d have to get a different LNB for the end of my Satellite for it to find the EA satellites. (One of them just gave me one). I work on the pipeline as a safety manager so he knew I’d probably make my way over there soon. I have my own little buddy so I just get to where I’m going and set up my fifth wheel and just set my own up So you’re going to need Two satellites, one with a WA LNB and one with a EA LNB

So if you hook up north eastern and western arc, what satellite is the default?

If you get rain fade does it default to the other satellite?

Could be a good upsell for all the people who like to bitch when they loose signal due to rain for 5 minutes.

What both Dish and Directv needs to do is use the internet connection as a backup when the satellite goes down

I would say that if you could backup your satellite connection with the internet, you would be using the internet in the first place.

Called in this afternoon to discuss the options. Really cool guy from NJ listened and then spoke to his supervisor to see how to request what I was asking for. He stated they couldn't specifically ask for a 500 dish for 77 and to re-use my current dish for WA, but he put into the system as best he could... requesting a two dish and relocation. Said they do these in quite a few farms.. which made me laugh.

Appointment set up for Thursday afternoon. We'll see what the tech says/does when they arrive.

Is there anything I can do beforehand to help things along? Or once the tech gets here help explain what's going on, or... ?

I've got to say, Dish has really impressed on working with me and solving in problems I may. Very refreshing.

I do wonder how this works exactly. With my HD locals on 77 and SD locals on the WA, which channel will show up on my guide? The HD or the SD ones, or will both show up?

Thanks all :)

I’m betting the tech will show up, see everything is working, roll his eyes while you explain what your trying to do, make some excuse say it’s not possible and blow off the job.

I’m not saying that to be mean either. I just know these techs.

They likely never hooked up the configuration you want before.

They don’t want to be at your house 2-3 hours installing a second dish that they are not 100% will work the way you want it.

They are getting paid for a service call, and not a new install which this almost is.

It’s like the customer who wanted me to run everything in PVC conduit on the outside of his house as part of basic install.

Not happening unless your paying way more money :)

Where in Iowa are you? My company covers most of the Eastern half so if you want, an hour before your appointment, go online to mydish.com/appointments and see who your tech is. If he's one of ours, I can email him and let him know what's up, but I'll have to give you my number in a PM so you can call or text me
