Also Greg, if I may. That law was passed at a time when most people were lucky to get/receive, 3-4 channels via an antenna. Now there are hundreds of channels/entertainment media to choose from. I think alot of people would view that law as "antiquated". So either a 2010 version would need to be passed, or I guess you could along the lines of that law.

Getting a new one passed for the 21st century would be tough since I am sure alot of politicians get money "in their coffers" from the NFL owners at some point

The problem here is that in order to pool the bargaining rights to the leagues, this law needed to be passed. It would need to be "undone" in order to allow the NFL to broadcast Friday night games nationally. Could it be changed? Sure. But the law must be changed before the NFL gives a package of Friday night games.
