Even after gaining additional HD channels with TurboHD I still would prefer to have the VOOM channels instead. At least they were "real" 24 hour HD channels.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Listen, Voom is gone; its not coming back; while I liked some of the voom stuff, I am pretty content getting a slew of new HD premium channels -- most of which have been showing HD as far as I have been able to tell.

I agree. I miss VOOM but if you subscribe to any of the premium channels, you will miss VOOM less and less.
I see you have a lot of equipment ,so you know quite a bit about E* Satellite. I know this is off topic, But how far away can I mount my 61.5 Dish 500 from my 110/119 Dish 500? Since the 2 have to be connected to each other. And I don't Miss VOOM . These premiums are all I need.
I must admit that if you subscribe to either HBO or Starz the new HD channels would be great to have. Once I am able to switch to TurboHD in February and reduce my monthly bill I probably will subscribe to either HBO or Starz to have access to even more HD programming.
Don't all channels repeat programming over and over? I agree that VOOM is gone for good, but if they were to return for $10 a month extra I would be one of the first to sign up.

I know some networks that do this too, but they come with about 100 other channels. Yes they all repeat, just not the same 5 things 6 months streightDon't all channels repeat programming over and over?
And thats total including the runs from the 110/119 to the receivers? What would be max without a problem ? I'm at about 80 feet now with the longest run. So if I move the 61.5 another 50 feet away ,I'll still be OK?
Not necessarily, as the HBO'S of this world tend to pan and scan most of their content. HD Net & MGM are true to the aspect ratios. Most purists, such as myself, prefered Voom for that simple reason.
Key word were. They are gone Dish made a good business move by replacing voom with premium channels in HD.
I agree...unless the court finds E* guilty of breaching the affiliation agreement and awards VOOM a half a billion dollars or more in damages.

The max. distance from the dish to the receiver is 200 ft for DP. If your D500 for 119/110 is at 80 ft. to the receiver, you can have the 61.5 going to the D500 at 120 ft.
Voom is gone, but i still miss it.
The crap Sony and Disney send to Starz does not make me not miss the independent and foreign movies on Voom.
The crap (especially!) Fox, Dreamworks Warner, Universal and New Line send to HBO and Cinemax does not make me think, "There's absolutely nothing on Kung Fu I would like to watch now!"
The concerts on HBO (Justin Timberlake? Come on...) do not make me not want to see "Later...with Jools Holland" in HD.
The crap Paramount and Weinstein send to Showtime does not make me forget how much I loved watching Ultra HD. (There is nothing like Ultra even in SD. Style network is nothing but reality shows.)
I'm a realist. I know Voom is not coming back. However, please don't suggest that the additional premiums showing repeats of what is on the main premium channel in anyway replaces the unique content that is/was available with Voom.
I am happy to now have a total of 21 HD commercial-free Movie HD movie channels (whether OAR or not), but the 7 HBOs, 1 Max, 1 Encore, and 4 Starz' I got yesterday don't make me miss Thou Who Shalt Not Be Named any less. Aside from tennis, all I now have to watch is movies. And while movies made up 1/3 of my TV viewing , tennis another 1/3, I'm still lacking the final 1/3 since E* took TWSNBN away...
Please merger this with the VOOM goes Boom thread. I liked Voom but no need for 2 of these threads.
