Trying to stream video from Amiko Mini HD SE to Windows

An issue has popped up. I cannot seem to stream high bitrate streams. If i stream directly to the SMplayer, nothing comes up at all. If i stream to my application and write to file. When i play the TS file in SMplayer, it is very choppy. This might be a problem with how my program is capturing the UDP packets, so i will look further into that.

I streamed the exact same channel via the android big2small app, and it plays. The RTSP communication including setup string when i play via Android is the the EXACT same as when i set it up and stream it via my program.

iBoston, please share with us the source code. I only care about the part of your code where you send the RSTP SETUP. But I think others here would like to see the whole thing. OK?

Yes, i have no problem dolling out source once i have worked out a few of the issues I am having.
This program is written in vb6. I often do that when i want to throw something together QUICK.

I thought you were doing your work in "C" or "C++". I don't want any Visual Basic source.

I'm trying to deal with streaming directly to the media player, and i cannot get any High Bitrate to play. This would have nothing to do with what platform the program is on. It appears that it is unable to decipher the video stream and figure out what it is.

If you are rewriting the stream using Visual Basic, then it really scares me that you're asking why its choppy. LOL Its too SSSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWW.

I'm not worried about that. - But, i don't think that is the issue. I'm trying to deal with the direct UDP stream to the media player. This would have nothing to do with what platform the program was written on. It appears the media player is unable to figure out it is a mpegts stream when it comes in at high bitrate. I'm wondering if their is a command line to force the demuxer to be used.

I think i might have found a/the problem. The High bitrate is decoding using

But, the video is in MPEG4. This explains a lot. So, i need to figure out if i can force the DEMUXER to be used.

Okay, i got the Stuttering licked. It was a matter of getting the correct settings on the MPLAYER so the demuxer is properly handling the Mpeg stream. I am now successfully watching SD and HD programs on Windows through MPLAYER.

If you have an Amiko with the Big2Small server and running Windows and would like to test this program/player combination with me, please jot me a message. I want to make sure someone else gets the same results.

Its good to hear that you have someone testing it. I wish that more of the software being used nowadays was sufficiently tested before release to the public. It seems that customers and regular users often unwittingly end up being beta tester's. -End of rant-

Last night, from my Laptop on my night stand, i streamed a HI def channel before i went off to bed. Streamed it for well over two hours before i fell asleep. Seems to be reliable and stable for me. Working with a tester. Hopefully we will get the same results.

Amiko Firmware 2.0.38 Mucks with the streaming. It appears to work for awhile and then about a few minutes into the stream, goes hay wire. I just did the upgrade today. i am NOW reverting back to 2.0.30 .. I suspect this would effect the big2small as well.

Ok, I can for sure say this works. I am also streaming from my Mini HD SE to Windows just fine, at least so far. I am running 2.0.38 and so far things are working fine. I am using the program that iBoston wrote. I will keep everyone updated. This is very cool!

There is Wine to run Windows programs and also the ability to set up a Windows virtual machine under Oracle VM Virtualbox. I know that the suggested SMPlayer works. I installed it natively under Linux as well as with Wine.

100% ! Mac too. I am not far from streaming to other platforms using Open Source code in C and C++.

Yea, now that we know its not proprietary and that mplayer has multiple platform support including linux and mac, we should be able to make it work on any platform. Ill go ahead and release my source code so you can see the process behind it so that it will make it easier for anyone to port it.

I will release the .exe within the next day or two. I have to make a package and deployment for it so it installs all the necessary components. Of course, if you have vb6, which i know at least one of you do, then you can compile it yourself and be in business.

alternative on Windows can you use Windows Media Player for playback the Rtp stream
the only thing what required for that is an installed LAV Directshow Filter

one tip more is use ssdp for device discovery
so get you the device description and you see what types of Broadcasttypes are supported and their frontend Count
and the state of Sat>Ip Devices
