Need to place a dish in a field up to 100ft from the house to get a line of sight. There is a swampy area in between so trenching is probably out although everything is bone dry now. The solution doesn't seem that difficult, but the favorite answers out of DTV folks seem to be no we can't. Apparently a lot of people just install everything themselves, but in other threads I apparently can't dig a hole & pour concrete without DTV having their hands on it. Would a local installer be able to work with me and think outside the box? Is there a difference between a local installer and an independent installer?

:welcome to Satelliteguys!

Trenching is preferable to running the wire overhead. They should be in a conduit, too. If you do the pole install yourself, make sure you use a 2" pole and get it plumb. That's very important. An independent installer may be easier to work with, but most of the ones that work directly with Directv are good, too. Have they come out to do a site survey, and what did they tell you?
