I am considering taking my PS3 60 with me over the Fourth of July weekend for use as a BD player. Never bought a game for it. We will go to our trailer, which has an HDTV in it, but no Blu-ray player, yet. I've planned on waiting until they were below $200, and not before next April anyway. Maybe I should have sprung on that Wal-Mart $100 gift card deal.

Anyway, I figure I can disconnect it and reconnect it easily. Probably use the TV speakers at the trailer because a special cable would be needed to feed the "stereo." I doubt that driving there would harm the HDD. And the trailer won't be moving anywhere, this trip.

Anything I should consider before doing this? Might be doing it a few more times before getting that BD player. TIA.

I would try to not use it while driving for fear of hitting a big bump while the HD is accessing. I knocked my external HD off the desk, head crash and lost 200gb of porn.

I toss one of my PS3s (60GB) in an old suitcase and lugged it around 3-4 time last year, and almost 3000 miles, without a problem. The PS3 seems to be a durable little box. Just as long as you don't leave it out in the rain, you shouldn't have any issues.

The camper has built in speakers, connected to a receiver/DVD player. But the receiver is built in and does not have normal external inputs. Some oddball AUX input, mini plug IIRC. I'll have to get an oddball cable to convert PS3 outs to this input. That's the only input. I was planning on getting one next year, as I have so many other things going on, but maybe I'll move that up. Especially if it looks like we'll be taking the PS3 with us more often. With the cable, I won't have to make space for more speakers. Maybe one day I'll install a Blu-ray HTIB.

Anyway, good to see that it will travel well.

Thanks.

I need to get a traveling case for my PS3 sometime soon. I have them for my Wii and 360. I used to just throw my stuff in a bag, but now that I'm dealing with $300+ equipment, I think that my ripped up Polo Sport bag isn't quite sufficient. Anyone using any special carrying bags for their PS3s?
