Transponder 18 - 72.5° West

I noticed tonight that Transponder 18 on Directv 1R at 72.5° West was empty. There is currently no signal there. If Directv is no longer using Transponder 18, I wonder if Dish will start using Transponder 18 on Nimiq 5?

With the power and frequencies of DBS and size dishes used, they are virtually indistinguishable. Whatever is on 72.5 would interfere with 72.7. They are viewed by the authorities as one slot.

Looks like Dish has taken over Transponder 18 from Directv. There is now a signal on Nimiq 5 Transponder 18. But no channels yet.

Probably just lead to upsetting more in PR as they move things from 61.5 to 72.7.
