Hello everybody,

I'm looking at buying a used TR-40 digital converter but, the remote is missing. Do any of the other Dish Remotes control the TR-40. A universal remote might work but I don't have the original to "teach" the new remote. Any suggestions?

I believe a universal remote will work if you program it using the Dish Network codes. If this is true, then some of the other Dish remotes should control the unit also.

If you happen to be using a Dish remote (6.2 or higher) then this page might help.

Basically, you can setup the AUX button on the dish remote to operate the TR40.

The last bullet in the link gives details (click the HOW TO link at the end of the bullet). As mentioned above use 1 when it mentions the 'address' for the additional dish receiver.

I think you can also buy a Harmony and set it up online for the TR-40 (or any simple Dish receiver). No old remote needed.
