Iceberg has me really wanting to get a Torodial dish for my FTA viewing. If I were to do this, I would want to eliminate my DTV dish and just have one dish for everything. I would also be adding linear LNB's and switches for my FTA slots too.

My current DTV dish looks at 101, 110, and 119. It has 4 cables going into my house into a multiswitch that can feed 8 receivers. I have 3 D*Tivos so I need at least 6 lines to feed receivers.

I know I will need reversed DSS LNB's to feed these three slots to my receivers, but, what combination of switches etc. would I need to feed 3 reversed LNB's into to duplicate what I have now?

I've tried searching for this information, but, I guess I am not using the right search terms, or I am the first one that has posed such a question. Thanks.

why ?

I think just the reversed LNBs, and reuse the same switches.

But let me ask this question... WHY?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
It's far better to leave the working stuff as is, and not have those LNBs in your way on the T-90.
Plus, if you tear something up, your DTV will still work.
It's called redundancy (or backup).
Their dish isn't that big. Leave it alone.

in case it wasn't clear, the "why?" applied only to replacing the DTV dish, not to the use of the T-90

True, if it ain't broke, but, it would eliminate a dish for one. Two, I could ditch my motor and run 3 FTA receivers at the same time. (My son wants one in his room)

Using the same switch won't work becuase 3 dual LNB's would give me 6 cables to hook to 4 ports on the existing multiswitch.

Yes you would need dual reverse polarity LNB's. The only issue is 110. DirecTV uses a different LNB for 110 (Sat C) that converts the 3 DirecTV transponders (28,30,32) and makes them like 8,10,12 and combines them with 119. I haven't seen a Sat C LNB that is reversable. If you don't have HD, then you really wouldn't need 110.

The switches would be fine.

That was one fo the reasons I got one :) To eleiminate 2 dishes

You wouldn't be able to get the whole arc and in most cases, you can't do 2 degree spacing. So if you have 119 on the one side, you could get to 79 on the other.

see above post

in theory, if you had two torridials, couldn't you get the full arc, even though it'd cost you quite a bit to setup at first?...

It can be close. Just thinking of my setup and where the LNB’s are, you could feasibly do

Dish 1
72,74,79,83,85,89,93,97,101,107,111

Dish 2
87,91,95,99,103,113,116.8,123,127,129

The dish will accept 40 degree of arc but in some cases (especially with DBS) you could stretch it. If you do DBS, on Dish 2 you could add 110 & 119 with no issues.

2 degree can be tough depending on signals and where it is on the slide scale, but you could do 72/74 & 83/85 on one setup (I do that with no issues) and 127/129 on the other (nothing free on 127 right now so you may not need one there)

I forgot about that restriction. I think I will heed the first set of advice and just leave well enough alone!

Thanks for the input.

Hello Iceberg. I just received my t90 and this is exactly what I want to do.

I will use it to get the 2 degree spacing.

on dish 1
61.5, 72, 74,79,83,87,91,95,99, 103,107,111
on dish 2
85, 89,93,97,101,105,110,121,123,127,129

well this is what I will try, I don't think I can get 113 and 116 here.
